I am sure the question crosses many moms-to-be minds, “Should I book a newborn session for my baby?” So, you either start to search for a newborn photographer in your area either on google or Instagram or whatever social media platform you frequent and find so many to choose from with prices and styles ranging all over the place. I am sure it becomes immediately overwhelming and for some they probably put the phone down and go on to the next thing on your to do list or they just completely decide it’s not worth the price, I’ll just use the hospital photographer or take my own pictures on my phone. If I had a dollar for every time I have heard from my clients, they wished they never got sucked into the hospital photographer and just scheduled an actual newborn session or their biggest regret was just using their cell phone to grab some cute pictures. Which, let me say using your phone is totally fine and you SHOULD always have your phone out to capture every single detail of your new baby. It’s like a given us moms are always going to have that phone out taking endless amounts of photos of our new baby! However, you want to print out something huge to showcase your adorable baby and you will immediately be able to tell the shot was taken on a cell phone. It will lack that quality you are probably really hoping for.

Moms ask yourself this question, would you have your wedding guests just use their cell phones to capture your wedding day? Serious question! I can guarantee you wouldn’t want your wedding day captured by people just taking pictures on your big day with their phones and no beautiful professional portraits to look back on years later. Professional wedding photographers are trained to pose you perfectly, capture you perfectly and have all the artistic vision you otherwise do not have. Guess what having a baby is JUST AS IMPORTANT as your wedding day portraits, if not even more important in my opinion. Why do I say that, because having a baby is the single most important day of your life. The love you immediately feel for this new life you created is love like you never felt before and who doesn’t want beautiful portraits to capture that new love. Newborn sessions are meant to capture your baby as the tiniest they will ever be. Their tiny little fingers wrapped around yours, that sweet little strand of hair, those pucker luscious lips, their precious little toes and those sweet eyes looking with such wonder! All done artistically and beautiful for parents to enjoy for years and years to come.

Whether you book a newborn session with me or someone else, I cannot stress enough how important it is to schedule this session. Don’t live with the regret of not having them done. It’s an investment that will mean more than the cute little newborn outfits they will only wear maybe once or the silliest new gadget that everyone raved about, but your baby wanted no part of it!
